COVID-19 AUTUMN BOOSTER PROGRAMME

Posted on April 20th, 2023

Autumn booster eligibility

Get vaccinated this winter! COVID-19 affects older people and people with certain underlying health conditions more significantly than the rest of the population. For these reasons, people who fall into the following categories will be offered the COVID-19 Autumn booster vaccination:

  • People aged 65 years and over
  • Residents of care homes
  • People aged six months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
  • People aged 12 to 64 who are household contacts of people with weakened immune systems
  • people aged 16 to 64 who are paid/unpaid carers and staff working in care homes
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • pregnant women

Timing of the spring booster

If you are eligible, you will be contacted by your GP surgery. You should be offered an appointment between September and December 2023, with those in the highest risk groups being called in first. You will be invited to have your booster around 6 months from your last dose in the Spring Campaign but you can have it from 3 months.

If you are turning 65 years of age between September and December, you will be called for a vaccination during the campaign; you do not have to wait for your birthday.
